I feel inspired. Athens style. Lost and Debate… Who knew…
Writing my Thanksgiving blog…
It is one of my favorite things to do every year. I play some video games with my brothers, eat some Turkey and hop on the computer. Today I’ve been almost… avoiding it though. It tends to get longer and longer every time I write it and this year has been “2011: The Year of Happiness!” so I knew this blog might be a bit- um- er- epic? I thought about keeping it short. Leaving it to the essentials. If I were to do that I’d probably list three things: Cute Family, Old School Friends and Buddies. But then I wouldn’t get to rant about Katy Perry and Lost so… YOU ARE IN FOR A TREAT. HAHA.
One of my new years goals this year was live in the moment. Be present and happy about where I am, who I’m with, that type of thing. I’m happy to report that I’ve made a lot of progress. Perhaps because I’m trying very hard to live in the moment- or maybe I’ve just been lucky enough to be doing the things I want this year.
Things I am thankful for. (Although I have a feeling this list will mostly be comprised of PEOPLE.) Whew. Here we go.
- My youth! I figure it won’t be around forever. I already lost my childhood in a sea of trouble so I’m attempting to enjoy that I’m still… young. Sort of.
- Katy Perry. Now now now… I have friends with wonderful unique tastes in music. I appreciate that. They may or may not judge the love for Katy Perry. But music really affects me. And sometimes I just want to be happy. Katy Perry’s music does just that. Not to mention the two times I saw her in concert she was INCREDIBLE, adorable and HILARIOUS. Win win WIN! Thank you Henleys. I LOVE YOU. (“Popping ‘em out!”)
- Speaking of Katy Perry… I’m very thankful for Matt Neves. A lot of what I did this year was because of Matt Neves. Rumors… Rumors again. Stalking Natalie Portman… Going to Katy Perry the first time around. You have taught me so much about theatre and comedy. And you are a wonderful ear when I need to talk to someone. Love you. Miss you. Be less far away.
- So when I say I’m thankful for LOST part of me thinks I might just be thankful for the hours Carrie Colton spent watching Lost with me in the middle of the night. Or maybe I’m thankful for Elizabeth Mitchell. Every time I watch her act I feel like she is sharing something with me. A secret about life or art. Um. I would like to grow up to be her. I’m putting THAT on my Christmas list Santa. Lost is full of the gospel. I think that pretty much sums it up. I’m glad I waited to watch it because the cliffhangers would have driven me crazy. Not to mention that watching it by myself without the rest of the world made if feel more like MINE. Thank you for truth, Lost. I feel Lost sometimes and you made me realize that we all do. ”We can go dutch.” Oh and the music in Lost makes me so happy. GAH :D
- I’m thankful for my brothers. Hell, Aaron and I are pretty much the same person. This morning we jinxed each other twice. Both comments were at the expense of my dad. HAHAHA. Oh, poor fella.
- Parentals. Would there be anything without them? I’m thankful for my circumstances. I was born into a home full of love and wisdom. Circumstance. I haven’t experienced violence. I was given a great education. (Thanks SUH-UH-UH) My family is awesome. Circumstance. I couldn’t be more lucky. Really. REALLY.
- I really adore my moms side of the family. Asians unite!
- Old School Friends. If I didn’t have Trevor I don’t think I would have ever started reading comic books the way I do now. I mean I always read them, but he let me borrow CHUNKS of comic books and it started me on a wave of new appreciation. Sousa is like another brother! Hoffman forces me to be open minded about life and Chase is the friend you call when you are in trouble. The one who shows up no matter what. They all are. We have had great adventures. Many more to come. Sometimes I go work on my spin off but I always come back and when I do I laugh til I cry and watch burlesque shows. HAHA Liz and Rob make me laugh. Oh boy… Liz hiding in the shower. Old School Friends. I have a new appreciation for you. Not that I didn’t love you before its just… now… more than ever… I know what I’ve got.
- Cathy. You are posted in between ^ the Old School Friends and the Buddies below because you are both. You are my sister and when you aren’t around its like I’m missing…. thumbs. I can still grab stuff but I just don’t function as well. HAHA THIS IS THE WORST THANKFUL POST EVER. I’m sorry. I love you. We are the same person. Thumbs-limbs- Okay kinda morbid. (Watching too much Dexter.) However you want to put it… when you aren’t around I’m missing a part of me. “There is one meaning in that.” You get me.
- Buddies. You are family. I always wanted sisters and now I’ve got lots. And some extra brothers too. I could take away most everything on this list and still be okay as long as I had buddy support. You mean the world. When I made my ultimate 11/11 11:11 wish… I wished to keep my buddy family together. (I don’t really believe in that “tell and it won’t come true crap” especially because I don’t think this is something that requires a wish. I think its a given.)
- Ellesse. You really teach me to be positive. Whenever we talk I’m reminded of why I love storytelling and you make me see it in such a new and positive way. You bring such an energy to the group. I always say… ditch Ellesse… but in all reality we don’t function the same without you.
- Hye Soo! You are like my sister! I miss living with you but I’m so thankful that for now at least- we are close. Thanks for giving me what feels like a nephew in Lennon. There are some problems in life that require an asian sister first. Grateful I have you to go to.
- Jen. Your trust and loyalty mean the world to me. Those words are perfect for our friendship.
- F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and Pizza. And cottage cheese. And Uke songs with Matt Hanchey.
- Shani whenever you are around I feel light. Comfortable. You really bring happiness around with you.
- Meggan. Dude. You teach me that with enough will I can achieve anything. Any epic thing I do can be traced back to you. You make me a believer my friend!
- Darrah!!!! Oh. You gave me a place to live! I seek you out when I have news! You are a friend… a life long one. :D You are so talented and beautiful. You make me feel beautiful and worthwhile. You are one of the most incredibly giving people I know.
- Eric. My dearest Dexter. I feel like I’ve known you forever. Maybe I have. We sorta built this trust and love before we even knew each other and now that we do its only stronger. Love you brother.
- Cedar City. “You’re all I’ve ever had.”
- Carrie my cousin. “Let’s watch a movie!” *Seven hours later*…. “Nah let’s keep talking.” We could go forever. Thank you for your encouragement and bravery. When I have a problem you face it so simply and have faith in me when I’m losing it. We have spent so much time together these last few months and I’ll miss you.
- Kristen. You must be able to sense my mood. There are days when I’m so scared and those always seem to be the days when you send me… well… not just love… or an adorable message but something EPIC that makes me think I can do anything. Chastain?! WHAT?! WHO ARE YOU? I loved being your roomie this summer and I have a feeling that you are someone who I will always come back together with. Someone I will work with for the rest of my life. Comfort on stage when Kristen is there. Also the stage of life. (<— Haha. Epic.)
- Kasey. You make adulthood okay. Not many people do that for me. You always remind me to DO. Be a do-er. Last winter we had this amazing four day sleep over where you, Cathy, Jen and I spent every hour together. I’ve always adored, admired and feared you (AHHAHAHA) but ever since that four day adventure I really can’t get enough of you.
- Kaitlin my dear. I share all of my favorite stories with you. Including the one where Regan flashes some guards. Alice reminds me of you. All the crafts in my room that YOU MADE FROM SCRATCH. Ah. Kaitlin. Always teaching me to be an artist. How to steal like an artist. How to be a sister. For an only child you sure know how to share. :)
- Disneyland. Its like a blast back to childhood.
- Star Wars. For making me love stories.
- Power Rangers. This last summer I watched the pilot kind of as a joke. I then watched the first two seasons with Kristen everyday before dinner. Um. Then I took a martial arts class. SABERTOOTH TIGER! “If you were Bulk and Skull, where would you go?” “OH, don’t even MENTION such a horror.” I LOVE HOW BAD AND KICK ASS THIS SHOW IS. Childhood horray!
- Speaking of childhood, I’m still SO grateful for Origins.
- Rhett. You always call when I desperately need a chat.
- Heidi, Alex, Karyn and Syd. You guys always make me feel at home. :) . …. … (And Syd YOU ARE MY TWIN. JULIET!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
- Chelsey Richardson- Cathy was being so dramatic yesterday about “YOU HAVE BEEN CHAAAANGED FOR THE BETTER!!!” But seriously. You made me love acting. And you made me love to read. I wanted to wear a scarf, drink out of my thermos, read a book in a cafe before rehearsal etc because of you. Now I do and I. love. it.
- Robyn Harris. You are so enthusiastic about life and it makes me HIGH AS A KITE when I see or talk to you.
- SUU: You prepared me better than I could have thought. I loved my time at SUU. I send my love to professors and students alike. Anthony and Susan taught me things that are only making sense now. Hahah. And Richard Bugg… I grew more in your classes than any other… time period in MY LIFE. I love you guys.
- Dear theatre/SUU buddies in Cedar: Whenever I come down to visit I get such a warm welcome with brilliant hugs. I love you guys and I’m always SO SO EXCITED to see you, to see the work you do. I ADORE YOU GUYS!!!!!
- Chase, you bring me back to my roots. I don’t know how else to explain the feeling I get when you are around. You just always remind me of what is important.
- Sousa, I feel like we are closer than ever. Thank you for the stand up too.
- Starbucks for being sorta second homey. If we want to gather there just happens to be one wherever I wanna be. A vessel for the buddies.
- Brittany, I’m always learning from you. Art. Philosophy. Even Who. Love you.
- Trevor, thanks for always putting into words WHY I love something when I can’t explain it. Haha
- The Cast of Rumors. You guys make me pee my pants. Inappropriate behavior has never been more funny. SON OF A BITCH JAKE. ASH-YOUR STORIES… BLOW. MY. MIND.
- Shakespeare. Makes. Me. Cry. Sometimes I’ll be watching a COMEDY and the language will hit me in a way and I just start tearing up. Words don’t get better than that!
- Melinda and Brian for giving me something to aspire to.
- The buddies parents and families for being so darn cool.
- Bryant. Thank you. You always make me feel smart, funny and pretty. Not a bad friend to have around. :) I’m glad we finally found a video game you liked playing. Thank you James Bond.
- Dalton! Thanks for bringing James Dean around. I appreciate having a new friend to bounce ideas off of. I could talk about acting forever and I have a feeling you could too.

- So… so much.
Life is good.
You know on requiem for a dream how the soundtrack is amazing and will get stuck in your head and then when you walk around you feel epic?
Well on Wednesday’s my dad plays the banjo. And so it’s the opposite of that. I walk around my house and feel… Epic sure, but in a satirical or slapstick way!
I’m having the hardest time finding motivation to do anything but sleep.
